Here are the 30 N.J. towns with the lowest property tax bills

The average property tax bill in New Jersey was $9,490 statewide in 2022, and homeowners in some towns paid more than $24,000.

Tax rates are a better way to compare the true burden to tax payers, but the average bill does provide a snapshot of what homeowners are actually paying in each New Jersey town.

In these 30 municipalities, the average property tax bills ranged anywhere from half to 20% of the statewide average, and the list includes towns in all but eight of New Jersey’s 21 counties.
