Do I need a food handlers card?

If you are a food handler in Clay County, you are required to complete a food safety course that is approved for use in Clay County, Missouri. Completing an approved food safety course and passing the post test will award you with a Clay County Food Handlers Card. A food handler is someone who handles, prepares, serves, sells, or gives away food for human consumption.

Is this food handler training and test approved for my area? This program that includes a training and test is approved for use throughout Clay County, MO. When do I need to get my Clay County Food Handlers Card? Within 30 days of starting work. What do I get when I finish this course? Clay County Food Handlers Certificate of Completion. Are there any additional steps?

Yes. First, complete the StateFoodSafety online food handler course. Second, take your certificate of course completion to the Clay County Public Health Center Administrative Office, and take an abbreviated post test, to obtain an official Clay County Public Health Center Food Handler photo ID card. Office hours to obtain your Food Handler photo ID card are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

How long is my Food Handlers Card valid for? Your official food handlers card will be valid for 3 years. How do I renew my Food Handlers Card?

If your card has expired, you will need to purchase and retake the Clay County Food Handlers Card training and test. If you need to reprint your current certificate, log in and go to the Certificates section. From there, you can click View and print your certificate.

How long can I access the course?

Note: In some areas, you get your official Food Handler Certificate from the local health department. If you have lost the card you received from your state, county, or local health department, you will need to call that health department to obtain a new card, permit, or certificate.
